Industry leader Toyota Motor Philippines has
revised its sales target for the year to 57,000 units from 50,000 units to
account for 30 percent of the projected 170,000 total industry sales for 2010.

vice-president Rommel Gutierrez told reporters at the launch of Alphard,
Toyota’s newest and third van model imported a completely built-up vehicle
imported from Japan, as the industry leader enters a new segment that has
hardly any competition locally.
MANILA, Philippines—The Alliance of Vehicle
Importers and Dealers (Avid) reiterated its opposition to an alleged “midnight”
executive order issued by the Arroyo administration allowing local car
assemblers to create a motor vehicle “super body.”
In a statement, Avid said such a move could spell “life or death” for the auto
trading industry.

Motors (GM) together with its Chinese partner, Shanghai Automotive Industry
Corporation (SAIC), presented the face of the automobile 20 years from now at
the ongoing World Expo in Shanghai, China.
With the
theme “Drive to 2030,” GM and SAIC are presenting their vision for urban
transportation in the future wherein driving will be free from emission,
accident, petroleum and congestion. It is a future in which driving will also
be more enjoyable and more fashionable than ever before.
